Why Junior Achievement?

JA helps students realize that the education they are getting today will help them to have a bright future tomorrow. JA's unique, volunteer delivered programs, show them all of the possibilities that lay before them. They realize they can choose different paths; College? A specific trade? Start their own business? Through your participation as an organization or as an individual, these statistics below can begin to change in your community:

> 20% of U.S. students will not complete high school on time and earn a diploma.

> 49% of U.S. employers recognize that talent shortages impact their ability to serve clients and customers.

Teacher Appreciation Week was May 4-8th, but Junior Achievement of Ashtabula County (Mahoning Valley) would like to take a moment to thank teachers and aids who continue to overcome obstacles to best serve their students! As a way to recognize some outstanding teachers in our community, we are giving away TWO gift card bundles to area educators! To nominate an outstanding teacher for a chance to win,Rules: Nominate one (1) educator who resides within the Contest Area whom you consider to be an outstanding teacher! In response to the changing environment, we are working on solutions to help educators by providing Junior Achievement remote learning resources correlated to Ohio learning standards.

There are a variety of possible scenarios we are working on now, including but not limited to:
Teacher-led remote learning programs
Remote volunteers, through pre-recorded content or live streamed via Zoom, Google Hangouts, Skype, etc.
Printable resources for students.
JAMV will be working closely with JA USA to create, curate and collaborate content and provide resources online for our educators, parents, students, and volunteers that include K-5th grade JA program videos for self-directed learning and blended-learning options for grades 6 -12.
